Summary

NaCl crystal growing on a brick from Venice. The specimen, still damp, was collected and taken to New York City, where it dried out. The difference in the thermohygrometric conditions between Venice anbd New York produce tre change in habit: from cubic (initial growth at the top of the crystal) to a needl growth. The cubic shape will produce "pulverization" whereas the needle growth will tend to produce flaking of the brick surface.
